The New Talent Film Fund is an opportunity for young & early career filmmakers to create a professionally commissioned short film, courtesy of The Developing Room & Developing Room Films Ltd.

We are looking for a short and impactful script based around the idea of “growing pains”. The proposed film should be socially relevant, innovative and engaging. It should be no longer than 5 minutes in length. Scripts may be of any genre.

*All money received via submissions will go directly back into future film fund awards.

Awards & Prizes

The selected individual or creative team will receive:

• Up to £1000 production budget to spend on the making of their film.

• Development, preparation and production support.

• The chance to showcase the film at a public screening event in London.

• Distribution planning support, including help with festival strategy and funding.

Rules & Terms

​

All applying individuals or creative teams must have the right to work and be living in the United Kingdom.

​

This fund is exclusively aimed at young filmmakers (aged 18-25) and emerging filmmakers at the start of their career.

If you're applying as a creative team, you may have as many people as you want on the team. However, to be eligible for the fund, the director must be a young or early-career filmmaker, and all members of the creative team must be based in the UK. Please include a cover letter with your application detailing who is attached to your project, along with their previous experience.

As part of the cover letter (for both individual applicants & applying creative teams), please also include why you wrote the film, your reasoning behind wanting to make it, and any other relevant information.

All applicants should have previous demonstrable production experience, although it does not need to be film-specific.

A short-list of finalists will be selected on August 25th. All finalists will then be invited for a video interview with the judging panel over the following couple of weeks, and a winner will be announced on September 16th.
